BMW has revealed its 560-hp, twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8-powered M6 Gran Coupe in a series of official photographs ahead of the sleek four-door’s public debut in January at the Detroit auto show.

Set to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, Porsche Panamera Turbo and upcoming Audi RS7, the latest M-car sets out to broaden the scope of the existing M6 lineup, providing added levels of practicality and improved comfort through the adoption of two extra doors and greater rear seat accommodation than its coupe and convertible siblings, alongside which it will be produced at BMW’s Dingolfing factory in Germany from early 2013.

The car arrives in North America in early summer of next year with a price tag around $110,000.

Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force – Debut @ L.A. Auto Show

Mercedes-Benz will reveal the Ener-G-Force concept vehicle later this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

It’s an imposing seven-seater dressed in highway-patrol vehicle guise, and it also provides the centerpiece for the German carmaker’s entry into this year’s Los Angeles Design Challenge.

As Mercedes’ entry for this year’s Los Angeles Design Challenge, which seeks a highway-patrol vehicle for the year 2025, the Ener-G-Force’s proposed driveline consists of four wheel-mounted, hydrogen-powered electric motors. Water held in containers on the roof and a so-called Hydro-Tech converter provides electricity that is stored in batteries within the concept car’s broad sills, which also act as tread plates. Mercedesprojects a range of up to 497 miles.Read more: http://www.autoweek.com/article/20121116/losangeles/121119917#ixzz2CU7WJBmZ

Audi S6 0-60 3.7 Seconds & Snake River Jump?

Nothing truly exhilarating ever really happens in a few seconds — until now. The new 2013 Audi S6 accelerates from 0-60 in a mere 3.7 seconds and was recently ranked “The World’s Best Sedan” by Car and Driver over the M5 and E63. Warning: Your adrenalin may rise as fast as the speedometer.

There are a lot of things slower than an S6. Car and Driver recently clocked it running to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and named it the World’s Best Sedan—ahead of the BMW M5 & Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. What are some other things slower than our new Audi S6? Autoweek.com

Lexus LF-LC Coupe Coming?

See Gallery @ Autoweek Link

The wild Lexus LF-LC coupe concept that wowed visitors at the Detroit auto show is on track for development, signaling a new direction for a brand that has fallen from first to third in the U.S. luxury sales rankings.

Toyota is on a mission to make Lexus sportier and more compelling to potential buyers–and it starts with the LF-LC, which was designed at Toyota’s Calty studio in Newport Beach, Calif.

Company executives said in January that the flashy 2+2 sports coupe was not planned for production. But several Lexus insiders now say the overwhelming reaction means it almost certainly will come to market.

Lexus dealers recently were sent crystal sculptures with a 3-D laser rendering of the LF-LC etched inside the crystal. Inscribed on the crystal were the words, “2012 GS Challenge … 27,500 Sales.” The underlying message: Hit the sales target for the mid-sized sedan and get the cool coupe.

But the Lexus source said the LF-LC probably would be produced even if dealers don’t hit the GS sales target.

Lexus’ 11-year reign as the best-selling luxury brand in the United States ended last year as it slipped behind BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Lexus continued to trail BMW and Mercedes in the first half of this year.

Maserati revealed the Kubang concept Tuesday at the Frankfurt  motor show, and the vehicle is a strong indication of what the production  SUV will look like. It will use Jeep underpinnings but has a completely unique,  Italian-styled body penned in Modena.

Mercedes-Benz Concept A stretches small-car style

Mercedes-Benz has revealed a spectacular new concept that previews the radical appearance, stylish interior and altered mechanical layout of its third-generation A-class.

Called the Concept A, the hatchback makes its public debut at the Shanghai motor show in China later this month. It hits European showrooms in 2012 and is unlikely to ever see U.S. soil.

Eschewing the one-box profile of the existing A-class, the third-generation model–as previewed by this concept–gets a two-box silhouette similar to that of the Audi A3, the BMW 1-series and the Volkswagen Golf.

Mercedes is relying on the fresh design with its more pronounced nose section, lower roofline and eye-catching detailing to make the entry-level model more appealing to younger customers.

White Gold Mercedes in Abu Dhabi

Recession? What recession?
So, it seems that this “global recession”
has not impacted negatively on everyone.
Check this out!
It’s a Mercedes Benz owned by an Abu Dhabi
oil billionaire (naturally).

Featuring the newly developed V10 quad turbo
with 1,600 horsepower and 2800nm of torque
0-100km/h in less than 2secs, 1/4 mile in 6.89 secs
running on biofuel.

That is NOT stainless steel, people, it is WHITE GOLD!

My thought:  I hope it’s a hybrid.

Smart ForFour & 3 Seat Sports Car

Some new Smart cars that the USA may eventually get?  Here’s hoping!

From WIKI

The Smart Forfour was a supermini that was produced by Smart between April 2004 and June 2006. Unlike the other models of the marque, the Forfour was a more conventional five-door hatchback with a relatively roomy interior, available as a four- / five-seater.

The car was produced at the NedCar factory in the Netherlands in conjunction with Mitsubishi Motors. This is the same factory that produced Volvo 300 cars in 1970s and 1980s and the Volvo V40s in the 1990s. To save production costs, the Smart Forfour shares most of its components with the 2003 Mitsubishi Colt. This includes the chassis, suspension and a new generation of MIVEC petrol engines, ranging from the three cylinder 1.1 L (67 cu in) to the four cylinder 1.3 L (79 cu in) and 1.5 L (92 cu in) engines with power up to 80 kW (109 PS; 107 hp). The 1.5 L (92 cu in) common direct injection (cdi) diesel engine, on the contrary, is a three-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine derived from the four-cylinder used in the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and is available with either 68 PS (50 kW; 67 hp) or 95 PS (70 kW; 94 hp).

A Brabus-prepared sports version has been available since 2005. It is powered by a turbocharged Mitsubishi 4G15 engine, developing 130 kW (177 PS; 174 hp), 27 PS (20 kW; 27 hp) more than the Mitsubishi Colt CZT. It can reach a maximum speed of 221 km/h (137 mph) and accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 6.9 seconds. The Forfour was to be sold in the United States along with the revived Smart Formore vehicle.[1] However, due to slow sales, the Forfour has been phased out from production. [2]

The sales brochures state that the interior “is designed around the concept of a lounge”; to test this, Top Gear presenters spent 24 hours inside the Forfour. They said it was a nice place to be in but they would not buy the car due to its high price compared to its rivals.

Following Smart’s success launching the fortwo in the US, and due to a surprise increase in popularity in the forfour, Mercedes-Benz exec Rainer Schmückle recently revealed that officials were considering relaunching the car.[3]

Electric version

A Smart forFour has been converted into a plug-in hybrid by Lithium Technology Corporation and Zytek Systems. The lithium-ion battery can propel the vehicle up to 84 mph (135 km/h) and last on its own for up to 20 miles (32 km). The engine is a combination of a 68 hp (51 kW; 69 PS), 1.5 L (92 cu in), three-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and two high-efficiency permanent-magnet electric motors. It received an award from the Energy Saving Trust for the “Ultra Low Carbon Car Challenge” project [4].
