My daughter and I had a great time seeing the bikes today. The cafe has excellent southwestern food as well.

“Say what you will about the stereotypical imagery or the fashion in which Indians promoted their products, there are still Indian people . . . who love and ride Indian motorcycles,” says White Wolf James, a Pomo Cherokee who hails from Mendocino County, Calif., and now is the Eiteljorg’s assistant curator of Native American art, history and culture.

James, a longtime motorcycle devotee, hatched the idea for the exhibit and tracked down the 23 bikes on display, including the iconic 1968 Harley Davidson ridden by Peter Fonda in the classic film “Easy Rider” and the 1972 Harley-Davidson XR 750 stunt bike that Evel Knievel crashed in an attempt jump over 13 buses at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1975.
